Dr Ricardo Blaug lives and writes in Bristol in the UK. A recovering academic with over forty articles and books on the psychological politics of institutional life, he is also an experienced and qualified Psychiatric Social Worker. He was Associate Professor (Reader) in Democracy and Political Philosophy at the Universities of Leeds and Westminster, where he was an award-winning teacher, and has worked as an emergency psychiatric clinician, mental health service manager and political philosopher in the UK, the US and the Netherlands. He is a volunteer drop-in and outreach worker in asylum hotels and runs support groups to help refugees gain higher education. Additional mobile skills include mental health first aid, mending things, talking and emergency medicine.
